Ghost stories and haunting tales near Okemo, Vermont
The Golden Stage Inn in rural Vermont has developed a reputation over the years for potentially being home to friendly spirits and ghostly occurrences. The current owners purchased the historic inn 10 years ago, after being forewarned by previous owners that paranormal activity had been reported on the premises.
According to accounts from earlier proprietors, a young woman was repeatedly seen brushing her hair in an upstairs window over the years. Attempts to photograph certain areas of the inn for promotional purposes were hindered by unexplainable orbs and haziness appearing in the developed pictures. One former owner awoke to witness a spectral figure of an old-fashioned gentleman lingering in her private quarters before vanishing.
Ghost Stories Met With Skepticism
Since taking over ownership of the inn, the owners initially approached the ghost stories with skepticism. But over time, they and their daughters have experienced peculiar events that leave them questioning rational explanations. On various occasions, gas burners have switched on by themselves, lights have turned off spontaneously, disembodied voices have been clearly heard, and televisions have powered on inexplicably.
Guests have also reported unnerving occurrences during their stays. Some claim to have seen solemn ghostly processions moving through their rooms after dark. Others have requested signs from spirits and soon after experienced odd activity like whirlpool tubs activating unexpectedly.
On multiple instances, separate patrons without knowledge of each other's experiences have described identical noises and disturbances taking place during the night. Even spectral animals have been felt, as two guests on the same morning reported feeling a cat walk across their bed or having sudden allergy symptoms manifest.
A Haunted Destination in Vermont Where You Can Stay
While logical reasons for these peculiar happenings probably exist, the inn's owners have yet to uncover them after 10 years of perplexing encounters. While ghosts may not be present, the Gothic architecture and air of mystery surrounding the historic Golden Stage Inn certainly give it the aura of a haunted destination for guests seeking spectral tales in scenic rural Vermont.
